Yes, Yes, Yes, Exactly!
It’s still perfectly normal and expected for Seattleites to speak of Tacoma with derision. There is no sense of underdog solidarity between the two cities, and why should there be? One of those cities is NOT in the habit of losing. Not at all.
When the Seahawks won on Sunday, the miles between Seattle and Tacoma meant nothing. It’s our team too, and we’re all brought together by this jubilant occurrence. But for God’s sake, let’s not try to turn it into some kind of inspiring Horatio Alger plot line. This was not The Bad News Bears, my friends. The Super Bowl was won by an expensive, sophisticated team from one of the world’s most recognizable, innovative cities.
